In response to a recent enquiry made:
Following your email concerning possible grants to install Thorncombe Sports and Social Club I have done some research helped by other members of the Dorset Energy Group;
The county council is currently recruiting for a Rewnewable Energy Technical Officer who will be able to provide direct support to installation of renewable energy measures on community buildings. So this should be avaliable in the next 3 months or so. I will ask Pete West to keep details of this, so that he can forward it on to the new officer when they are in post and he can get in contact - if you have more specfic contact details for the club that would be usefull.
The feed-in tariff could also make installation of a scheme more viable and provide income for the community hall - I attach a briefing sheet from Bridport Renewable Energy Group on the tariff for individuals - there are some potential issues surrounding
communmity buildings claiming it - so worth checking further with us when it actually comes into operation in April 2010.
Unfortunately the Governments low carbon buildings programme has run out of money for Solar PV for community buildings however
there are a few other routes you can go down including contacting your energy supplier and ask them if they can assist - failing that there are some sources of funding;
