We are sometimes asked what Insurance a Hall user might require to cover accidents which might happen to their club members when attending a club activity, either at the hall or elsewhere.

With regard to insurance for clubs using Hall premises, they would normally be covered under the Hirers' Liability section of the Hall policy. Under our policy, any individual or group who hires the Hall for non profit-making purposes would automatically have the benefit of Public Liability cover and that would protect them against the types of incidents that you mention. Should they be hiring the Hall for profit-making purposes - e.g. a keep-fit teacher who charges a fee, a group who holds a jumble sale to raise funds or a company that sells pine furniture, then they would need to arrange cover of their own and it would be wise of the committee to check that they do so.
