Successful Reaching Communities Application

Posted in

Earlier this St Andrew's Hall in Charmouth were successful in a funding bid to the BIG Lottery 'Reaching Communities' programme. This is no mean achievement as many bids fall along the the way but the people of Charmouth were successful because they persevered, took advice and used their many talents to put together an attractive proposition that the BIG Lottery felt they were able to support.

Trish Evans has kindly supplied copies of various elements of their successful application as an example for those wishing to follow in their footsteps. The scheme has changed a little since St Andrew's applied and the application form is now a little different but the basic bones remain the same.

As Trish, who masterminded the whole project writes:

"As promised here is a copy of our application form to the BIG Lottery Fund for the Reaching Communities Project. It is in various parts:

1    Our original outline application.  Our first one was rejected and this was our second attempt which was accepted.
2    The application proper.  We had to change several things before it went before the board, so I have also attached at 3 and 4 the relevant changed pages.

After submitting all that I then had to endure a telephone interview for about 45 minutes.

It took me two years almost to the day from the start of my research to the offer of the grant.  When the building is up I will have to do more monitoring again."

We are very grateful to St Andrew's for sharing this with us and we hope they can be an inspiration to other tempted to apply for funding under this scheme.
