Successful Reaching Communities Application

Earlier this St Andrew's Hall in Charmouth were successful in a funding bid to the BIG Lottery 'Reaching Communities' programme. This is no mean achievement as many bids fall along the the way but the people of Charmouth were successful because they persevered, took advice and used their many talents to put together an attractive proposition that the BIG Lottery felt they were able to support.

THE WATES FOUNDATION - Now Open to Applications

The Wates Foundation is open to applications once again after a review of its grant-making structure.

The Foundation aims to promote work that builds social values and responsibility and provides access to opportunities that address disadvantage.

 

Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest

The Community Chest for 2010 is a pool of £20,000 and a time bank of up to 200 hours for practical voluntary help from Hall & Woodhouse employees.  Applications are now being accepted.  The Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest was established in 2002 to provide local help for the community in and around Dorset.  Since then, over £100,000 has been donated to 148 local voluntary organisations, with Hall & Woodhouse's employees completing over 2,000 hours of voluntary work assisting with practical projects in the local community. 

ACRE launches £500,000 grants fund for communities affected by quarrying

Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE)1, and members of the Rural Community Action Network (RCAN)2, have announced the launch of this year's COMMA fund. 

COMMA, the Community Aggregates Fund, uses money from Defra’s Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF) to address the impacts of aggregate extraction on the environment and local communities.3 COMMA supports community-based projects in 23 qualifying areas in England.4

17th February 2010: NI 7 Seeding Fund

This is a reminder that the NI 7 fund is still open – in fact it will be running next financial year too.  The fund is to help voluntary and community groups develop fundraising ideas, write tenders, develop trading ideas, update Business Plans, or similar ideas that will help them increase their income. Grants of up to £1,000 are available and the money can be used to cover costs such as:-

 

17th February 2010: Big Lottery Fund 'Lighter Touch' Version of Reaching Communities

The Big Lottery Fund has announced that at least £100 million a year is to be invested across England, in an improved version of its Reaching Communities programme, for each of the next five years.

 

The main aim of Reaching Communities is to help bring real improvements to communities and to the lives of people most in need.  The new funding, which will be introduced this spring, comes with two distinct improvements.

 

9th February 2010: Grassroots Grants – Year 2 Opens

The Community Foundation for Bournemouth, Dorset & Poole have announced that they are ready to receive applications for the second year of the Grassroots Grants scheme.  They have £164,000 to distribute to groups within the shire of Dorset and would like to start receiving bids as soon as possible.

 

29th January 2010: Government Grants For Community Buildings

The Government is to provide more than £2 million in grants for third sector organisations in England to upgrade community facilities.

Almost 100 charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises will share a fund worth £2.27 million, Third Sector Minister Angela Smith has revealed.
