At the last BiteSize event on Village Hall Trustees Responsibilities I put together a series of imaginary situations and asked everyone present to decide which was the correct answer. This proved to be really popular and I was asked by several people afterwards if I could make it available for other people in their halls to have a go at.

Dorset Halls Network: Litton Cheney ask ...

We currently have a hall floor devoid of markings for any sporting activities, several of which are played in the hall. We have received a request from those interested in playing badminton that a court be marked out in the hall. Previously we have used weighted markers on the floor but that has not proved a great success.

The Folk Camps Society is urgently seeking to book a village hall for a members' event (max. number attendees 100) family camp in July/August 2011. We would require exclusive use of the hall for either 1 or 2 weeks, the dates in question being

For this session in our series of BiteSize events we are again at Frampton Village Hall and this time we are looking at essential aspects of managing a village hall. This is an event directed at hall trustees, those people that serve on management committees.

DORSET HALLS NETWORK - Website Training

 A final reminder about the Dorset Halls Website training on the 6th September in Community House at the Barracks, Bridport Road, Dorchester.

I have one place left for 2.00pm and three places at 4.00pm. The 6.00pm has been very unpopular!

As it has been quite a struggle getting enough computers together I'm afraid this will have to be a one off exercise so if you are interested in:

- adding your hall in to the Venue Finder, Activity Finder and Event Finder functions

- getting information on hall management issues

West Lulworth VH ask:

We are thinking about updating the lighting in our village hall. Have any other halls converted to High Frequency lighting or even to LED’s? If so, have they any comments about the success (or lack) of doing so?
