Growing your Community by Social Enterprise

Posted in

Are you looking to grow your community by setting up a Shop, saving a pub or or opening a cinema?

There are significant funds and a large amount of help available to make the project happen by setting it up as a 'Social Enterprise'.  Major funders are The Big Lottery and the European Social Fund.  A recent eBulletin from DCA highlighted this opportunity, and published this link www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/global-content/press-releases/uk-wide/010714_uk_vsos_enterprise-in-rural-communities for further information.

'Big Potential'
This is a BLF scheme to improve the ability of voluntary sector organisations to access social investment; This is where organisations use invested funds to meet social targets, e.g. reduced offending or homelessness, as well as offering a financial return. Eligible organisations can access specialist support from programme partners to help them bid for grants between £25,000 and £75,000. This will fund more in-depth investment readiness work done by one of Big Potential's approved providers. A grant from the fund will help VCSEs, at the very beginning of their social investment journey, to get specialist and tailored support to become investment ready.
