How does the programme work?

The Capital Grants programme is awarded an annual budget from Dorset County Council and each of the contributing districts under a three year Service Level Agreement. 

How much is likely to be awarded?

For larger schemes (known as category 'A' schemes) there is no set amount and the Village and Community Halls Adviser will advise on the sum that may be awarded.  On a new or replacement hall this is unlikely to exceed 10% of the total project cost, and could be much less.

What is the purpose of the Capital Grants programme?

Dorset Community Action administers the Village Halls Capital Grants Programme on behalf of, and in accordance with procedures laid down by, Dorset County Council, West Dorset District Council and North Dorset District Council. The scheme is primarily intended to enable village halls to lever funds from other sources where match funding is needed. 

7th September 2009 - ENTRUST Small Grants Scheme Announced (UK)

 ENTRUST, the regulator of the Landfill Communities Fund, has announced that its proposed Small Grants Scheme is now open. The aim of the scheme is to allow accredited Environmental Bodies to distribute small grants more easily. 

11th August 2009 - CEMEX Community Fund

 The CEMEX Community Fund enables and assists communities local to CEMEX quarry and landfill sites carry out project which improve or enhance their local community facilities and places of interest.

The CEMEX Community Fund offers grants of between £1,000 and £15,000 for projects that:

14th July 2009 - Extended Schools Capital Fund

 There is a 'movement'  known as 'Extended Schools' and this is now being supported by governnment money as theExtended Schools Capital Fund which is being made available to primary schools, special schools and pupil referral units.  Any village halls that are very close (both physically and socially) to these schools and where the hall could be used for activities by the school (sports, activities, lunch club, etc), could access funding to make any necessary alterations that might be needed to host that finction.
